*RW pours himself a cup and savours the
aroma, and then, almost reverently, takes a sip of the
hot black brew*
"Ah yes, now this is coffee! It
will either put hair where you need it, or take it off
one. Well, Grizz, is that what I heard they call you? I
don't want to be to vocal about this, and I have only
seen a few and would not want to give any secrets away.
But it has not been found in this age as far as I know.
In fact, I was in a place called Temahna when it was
given to me. You been to Temahna?"
"Sadly, no. And I sure haven't seen
anything like that in the cavern. But I will keep it
under my hat, and keep an eye out and an ear open. Odd
things are always turning up."
Yawns
mightily.
"Mpphhh. Been a long day. I think I
better turn in. Stay as long as you want. Look around.
If you find anything you need, put what you think it's
worth in the jar by the coffee, and leave a note on that
spindle there by the big book so I can tell when I need
to reorder.
G'night"
_______________________________ Prop.
D'ni Cavern Supply "If we don't have it, you don't
need it!"
"Much appreciated Grizz, and thanks for
the coffee. G'night"
*That is unfortunate RW
thought to himself as he warmed up his cup.*
"
"Seems to be a robust business around here in
brollies. Am sure if an entrepaneur like Grizz could get
his hands on a sufficeint quantiy of Fire Stones he
could do a handy business.
I should have asked
Atrus on Temahna where I could locate more of the
stones. Still, Grizz seems to EXILE himself from time to
time from the caverns so I will check back later. He may
have some in stock by then.
Mean time, this
really is a well supplied store. Think I'll look around,
then catch soom shuteye."
Veronica Fairchild sat up straight, with
her shoulders back and head held high as the small boat
made its away across the lake, leaving a small wake in
its path. Upon landing, the boatman jumped from the
craft to tie it down and then held a hand out for
Veronica. She looked at his dirty hands with disdain,
but was forced to accept the offer or fall into the lake
trying to exit the boat. She looked around her in
amazement at all the activity already occuring in such a
relatively new hood. Turning around she said haughtily,
"My good man, could you carry my bags to th....oomph."
The man tossed the bags and one landed squarely in
Veronica's stomach. "Carry it yourself, lady." She
picked up her second bag and glared at the man, prepared
to execute a perfect parting shot, but her 3 inch heel
became wedged in the cobbled stone and she lost her
balance, falling flat on her face. As the boatman's
laughter filled the air, Veronica stood up and brushed
off her knees. "If you knew who my father was, you
wouldn't be so smug!" She turned abruptly, hitting the
same hole with the other heel and fell again.
"oohh...that hurt." Taking a moment to sit on the small
stairs, she reflects on her current
situation.
Her father, a very wealthy man with
considerable influence, had pampered and catered to
Veronica her entire life. When it came to silver spoons,
she had had more than her fair share. So much so, that
her own father didn't know what to do with her any
longer and he had cut her off completely. He informed
her that it was time to face the "real world" and "be
responsible for herself" and to "suffer the consequences
of your actions." Pfft! She did not need to learn those
lessons...or so she told herself. She had been on her
own now for about one month and she had learned a great
deal. Mostly that she had no qualifying skills
whatsoever and unfortunately when it came to grace she
was sorely lacking. Her dad was fond of comparing her to
a "bull in a china shop". Looking around her now, she
wonders where in the world to start looking. Noticing
that she has her shoe, but the heel is still stuck in
the hole behind her, she decides that the first order of
business was to buy new shoes. Seeing a lovely bluebird
and white ferret speaking together, she asks, "Pardon
me, but is there a Gucci or Prada in this burrough?"
Looking at her as if she had grown a third head, they
direct her down the staircase and to the right. "Ask for
Grizz!" the bluebird called out.
*RW finished his coffee, cleaned the
cup, and begin look around the store. He selected a
rubberized backpack to replace his damaged and worn out
oil canvas rucksack, some climbing rope, anchors, and a
few tins of SPAM. Put these along with the other
supplies he had been carring in his old rucksack into
the new pack. He was about to discard the old pack, but,
hey, that pack and he had been through much together, so
into the new pack it went also.*
"Waste not, want
not." *his Mother used to say.*
*RW shouldered
the pack, left the note for Grizz, and walked back out
into the neighborhood. It was quiet. where there had
been considerable activity earlier when he had arrived,
the area was mostly vacated now. He approached the
fountain and finding the cascade of water relaxing,
found a comfortable spot to stop...and reflect on the
days events.*
"I've been to the GZ and I realize
the vast amounts of power it generats through some kind
of water and crystal interaction, which I don't begin to
understand. But perhaps, on a smaller scale, I can
harness it to replace the Fire Stone from Temahna I've
lost. Grizz told told me of several men of science that
could possibly set me in the right direction. Now that
Prof. T. I've heard of, but let me see, there was also
this Dr. Warrell, and a Stellaflora I think. I wonder if
this Stellaflora was the one I had seen in the lab coat,
but I could be mistaken.
Disturbingly, I've
noticed there seems to be some kind of tension in the
air amongst the team Bahro team I've heard so much
about, some of whose members have gathered here in this
neighborhood. I've overheard some conversations about
this Elkae individual and something to do with the Grand
Canyon, and a kidnapping?
I think most of these
individuals were involved in opening up the cavern
originally when the DRC were still here. And what really
became of them, the DRC? Odd, it seems that some of the
same elements that appear to have destroyed the D'NI
civilization seem to be showing up in these present day
explorers. Almost like some kind of latent virus that's
been waiting in this now damp and chilly cavern.
Hmm, yep, there is much to do here, many
questions for which to seek answers. Atrus is right, the
"end has not yet been written", the story of the D'NI
lives yet. Perhaps in all of us who felt as Yeesha
indicated, that..... something, calling us to this
fizzure in the desert.
If there are answers to
be found, these members of Team Bahro no doubt hold some
of keys to those answers. But perhaps not just them
alone. There seem to be many new explorers gathered here
that were not part of that original team. They too have
been called.
Well, time for some sleep. Am to
tired to think any more. I just hope I don't have any
nightmares about that incredibly sized blue bird I saw
earlier today. Last time I saw a bird of that
exceptional size was during a trip a few years back to
London. I remember my visit to Trafalger square. First
time I ever saw pigeons as big as fattened fryer
hens."
*As RW is about to look for a place to
camp down, he notices a young women from the ferry dock
approaching Grizz's store.*
"I hope she finds
what she is looking
for."

is a dimension as vast as space and timeless as

an area we call the Twilight Zone." Rod

*linking in from the A&C Hotel, she
looks around a moment to see if anyone is around. Seeing
the 'Hood pretty quiet at this time, she quietly heads
for a small alcove near the Fungus Garden and rolls out
a sleeping bag. She quietly snuggles herself in for the
night, reading over her journal one more time, then
smiles in hopes to become even more active in the recent
activities*

quest for....... well to join us in our quest anyway

"Oh what a lovely day" she says to
herself (which is somewhat strange since the weather
never changes in the hood and it is always dark )
She wanders
outside and sees the note left for her by
Kestryll:
Cordelia, Know how busy you are
so are taking over keeping the eggroom refreshments
stocked.
Will check on things in the morning.
Need a cafe of some sort over here? Let me know,
if you can't find me just drop a note at the Kahlo
Pub. Nice place Thietris has here.
Congrats
on the Assistant position.
"Oh good, that's
one less job for me to do"
She heads on over to
the Professor's Office to see if he is about and knocks
gently on the door. There is no reply so she opens the
door and sticks her head inside.
"Helloooooo
Professor, are you there?" she calls, but still nothing.
Just then she spots the note addressed to her on his
desk.
Cordelia, have gone to the surface
today, please look after things for me. I think you need
to introduce Deladra to Stellaflora, if you can find
him. Be back tomorrow, Thietris
"Looks like
it's going to be an interesting day," she ponders as she
leaves the office and heads on over to the Stellaflora's
laboratory.

Speedy looks at Grassie. "So, what do
you think a young woman asking us for Prada shoes is
going to do on this mission?" asked Grassie. "I have
no idea... but I have a feeling that she is going to
need a bigger adjustment than Dr. Warrell here, whenever
he wakes up..." commented Speedy as she looked at Dr.
Warrell. Suddenly, Dr. Warrell began to moan. He
opened his eyes and brought a hand to his
forehead. "Wha... wha... what happened?" he
asked.
Studying gives you knowledge. Knowledge
is power. Power corrupts. I am learning how to be
corrupt.
The man has no idea how fortunate he is
that his first experience with alcohol has been with
acorn mead, it leaves very little in the way of a
hangover! As his eyes come into focus he sees a blurred,
bright blue cloud quite close to him, and next to it a
small wiggling white blob. Something familiar is thrust
into his hand, and his sense of touch tells him it is
his glasses, so he automatically says thank you to his
benefactor as he puts them on. Now the room jumps
into focus, and he lets out a yelp as he sees that he
has just thanked a small white ferret, who is watching
him with intelligent, alert eyes. The cloud steadies
down to the image of a large blue bird, whose beak is
curled into a wry grin as he yelps and springs up in the
bed. It takes him a moment to steady his shattered
nerves, and finally he finds his voice. "Er, ah, ahem,
excuse me, it's er, Mr. Grassie, isn't it, and let's
see, yes, good morning, Miss Speedy!" He is doing his
best to cope with the situation, considering that he is
not too used to waking up in the company of talking
animals, he does fairly well. Memory of some of the
previous evening come flooding back, and suddenly his
scientific instincts kick in. Curiousity was always his
strongest trait, and now it takes over his mind. "You
are both real, I see, so I just have to accept that this
is actually happening to me!" Speedy and Grassie nod
sympathetically, they have gotten this sort of reaction
from amazed humans before, and Dr Warrell is doing
better than most. "I remember some of what you were
telling me last night, and I see that I have a lot of
things to learn," here he pauses and grins to himself.
"Or rather, I have a lot of things to
unlearn!"

Unable to find Stellaflora, Cordelia
wanders down towards the fountain area and is surprised
to see a smartly dressed lady carrying her shoes walking
across the courtyard.
"Excuse me Madam, can I
help you? You seem to be lost."
The lady stops
and looks at Cordelia with an expression of complete
bewilderment. After some hesitation, she
replies
"You certainly can young lady, I am
looking for the Gucci or Prada store. I need to buy some
new shoes. I was told it was down here and I was to ask
for someone called, er..... ah yes Grizz. Is that
right?"
Cordelia muffles a laugh and smiles at
the lady knowingly.
"I think you are looking for
the D'ni Cavern Supply - yes Grizz is the Proprietor. I
am not sure that he stocks Gucci or Prada but I am sure
he can find you some nice wellington boots."
The
lady shoots her a horrified look, thanks her for her
troubles and carries on in the direction of Grizz's
store.
"Now I wonder what on earth she is doing
here" ponders Cordelia.
It is just at that
moment that she hears strange noises coming from the
direction of the Light Garden and she hurries on down
the stairs to find out what in the heek could be going
on. Heek being the appropriate word in this case,
because she discovers TLG's store - Heek Inc.
"Oh
my goodness, I wonder what the professor will have to
say about this"

The sound of wild laughter rings
through the Grand Canyon as the image of Veronica
Fairchild (2nd cousin twice-removed of Morgan) in a
dashing pair of Wellies pops into the focus of her
consciousness.
Cordelia slowly wandered back up the
stairs in deep thought. She was very concerned about how
the Professor had left her in charge today and she had
gone and let TLG open up his new store. What was more
concerning was the fact that she was sure there had been
something else in that very spot and right now she just
couldn't remember what it had been
"Oh gosh," she
thought "I have a feeling it was Shiloh's crystal
display. Now I wonder where he moved that
too"
She quickly ran back down the
stairs.
"Hey you, TLG - what did you do with all
those crystals that were in that alcove before you moved
your store in? I do hope you have put them somewhere
safe. Oh and by the way, I am sure you are not going to
do much business in this hood you know - we are
explorers here, we don't have time to play
games."
She marched into the store determined to
find out exactly what TLG thought he was up
to.
"I do hope I can sort it out before the
professor gets
back."

*looking out from inside her sleeping
bag, Deladra yawns a bit, wondering what all the noise
is so early in the morning. Pulling herself out of the
sleeping bag, rolling it up and pushing it into her
backpack, she walks towards the Light Garden where all
the noise is coming. Startled, she sees what looks like
a new shop in the 'Hood. Her eyes go wide with sudden
shock and bumps into Cordelia who is also standing near
by*
*stammering* Oh, oh..I'm sorry. I didn't see
you there. Wha..wha..what is going on? How could someone
just start building something in the 'Hood without
permission?
*looking at Cordelia a moment, it
dawns on her that this is the lady that first spoke to
her in the 'Hood a day or so ago. Deladra smiles* Hi
again. I never introduced myself yesterday. My name is
Deladra.
Ugh! I can't keep up.
Lol. Everytime I post, someone has already moved or
moved me before I can get a chance to catch up and do my
little bit of action. *giggling* So I guess I didn't
bump into Cordelia now. Grrr..Oh well, leaving this like
it is for now and will try to keep up a bit
better.
